• Hold people accountable for their choices and actions. Do they apologize, seek forgiveness and make a sincere effort not to repeat unacceptable behavior? If you always do the forgiving, you are inviting and allowing hurtful behavior to continue without consequences.
• Define the rules and boundaries. What do you find acceptable, what do you find excusable? Define the consequences for unacceptable behaviors. Boundaries are necessary for self-esteem and self-respect.
• Increase your self-esteem, self-love, self-respect and self-worth.

Self-love and self-respect are the keys to attracting quality people into our lives and having healthy relationships. Do you ever wonder why you seem to always attract "this type of guy?" If you tolerate unacceptable behavior, you will attract people who engage in unacceptable behavior.

To attract someone who will treat you with love and respect:

• Treat yourself with the love and respect you want to attract.
• Demand love and respect from the people in your life.
• Define how you will allow yourself to be treated.
• Do not allow others to consistently mistreat you in the name of love or friendship.
• Do not allow the fear of losing someone to prolong mistreatment -- you would be better off without that person.

You are in charge of having happy and healthy relationships. Only you can allow and invite others into your life. Every one of us deserves to be respected and shown love -- accept nothing less!
