Tarot.com does not offer "psychic readings" -- only Tarot readings that you can give yourself. There are gifted readers, but there's also a lot of flim-flam out there. At Tarot.com you pick your own cards and make of them as you will -- using your own intuition. Your own psychic abilities will grow.

Tarot.com tells you what the cards mean when they fall in each precise position -- which no book can do. But only YOU know the context of your question in order to interpret that meaning for your situation. You are in control, which is as it should be.

In 12 years of producing divination software, we have learned that 3 criteria separate programs with integrity from the rest:

   1. Mathematical Authenticity
   2. Energetic Authenticity
   3. Experiential Authenticity

Tarot.com offers all three. No Tarot software that we know of -- other than Tarot.com or the Tarot Magic CD-ROM -- offers more than one of these criteria as far as we know.

Mathematical Authenticity
Mathematical Authenticity means that the process embodies the precise mathematical odds of the physical method it replicates. This is not trivial, especially in the case of Tarot, which demand extremely sophisticated algorithms to capture the true mathematical probabilities of card movement in shuffling, dealing, etc. Tarot.com goes even further by offering you a way to pick each of your cards -- just like you would if they were spread across a table.

Energetic Authenticity
Energetic Authenticity means that, even if the math is right, the user must be the one who picks her cards -- the user's energy must be what determines the result. A Tarot website is not energetically authentic if the computer throws the cards. Some would argue that on some cosmic level there are no accidents and that it all amounts to the same thing -- whether you let the computer do it for you or whether you do it yourself using a computer.

But we see a BIG difference and assert that an energetic connection is indispensable to an authentic experience of Tarot synchronicity. Similarly, according to this definition, it's not authentic to have a "psychic friend" flipping cards for you -- they could help you read your cards, but YOU are one who needs to shuffle and deal.

Experiential Authenticity
Experiential Authenticity is the most subjective criteria of the three. It refers to the skillful use of aesthetics to create an ambiance -- this includes design and artistic elements, as well as the psychology of the interactivity itself. This is an art form which we are constantly trying to improve on, with tools that are constantly evolving. For instance, one can only wonder at new possibilities that will arise as computers and Internet bandwidth become fully capable of supporting full-screen video and animation.

Of course, even the most technically authentic Tarot reading is meaningless if one's intent is not serious and one's question insincere. We can't do anything about that other than hope you give it a chance to be real for you. Enjoy!
